Cinderella wore cleats

Well folks, remember the blog about our Friday night game with the Hillsboro power house Burros? Well, let me just type this one out for you. Just I had written, this team had speed, size and much to be aware about on the field. Our defense came out fighting and grabbing for dear life to contain the run around the corners. Hillsboro had a number 5 who could accelerate around the field with 12 speeds left to touch. Our guys played smart, stayed at home, made big plays on 3 down and a foot, and made Hillsboro work. The offense was led by Cass Barnes. Tall, lanky, lean, field-wise, Cass saw the field last night. He played with an effort that opened up the middle. Passes to the flats, the corners and to the finger tips of recievers who took the ball and ran for the goal. Excellent catches. Excellent punting. Excellent defense when the first down marker was inches away. Remember the 48 minutes of don't lose the focus, keep the field eyes open, play the ball and see the player? Well, the 48 minutes came down to the final 2 minutes and ONE POINT. Touch-downs were made in equal amounts. The guts and the victory determined by a blocked extra-point. Lucky? Too low a snap? Poor place holding? Nope. It was intensity by a team who had nothing to lose but everything to give in hopes the clock did not strike 12mn before the fairy-tale could be written. It was written. It was seconds, ticking, while the Hillsboro Burros kept looking for the football to turn into a pumpkin. Well, the clock did not strike. The glass slipper was found, on the field. Cleats, covered with turf, and a tale to be told.
