Emptying our closets has filled my heart .

Since my husband has been home I have been waiting for the Martha Stewart team to show up at my door . He has been organizing and cleaning stuff out that has been around since we built our home 10 years ago . I pride myself in being organized and maintaining a clean house , but many things really do require two people if possible . Of course , it is nice to have a strong set of arms around to carry things out to the trash and pack away stuff , but....... it is even nicer to have a friend beside me . What I have discovered is remarkable . We women need companionship , or I do , while doing even the simple tasks . In fact , it is sometimes the simple things that can become the most overwhelming because of the constant need to be done on a daily basis . For instance , it has been so refreshing to hear my husband talk about the counter tops being clear and clean . I have been so shocked to watch him go through items deciding whether to keep or get rid of . The amazing thing that has occurred during this cleaning spree has been the closeness I have felt towards him . I can see in his eyes he is really wanting to help ME!!!!!! What a wonderful gift . Diamonds , gold , cars , whatever , are nice to receive , but the gift of servanthood.... the gift of doing an ordinary , mundane job in the quietness of our home has swelled my heart more than words could ever describe . So when you men are looking for the perfect gift.....why not ask , is there something I could help you with ? And , hang in there for the long haul beyond the trips to the trash can . Let your wife know you are there , no matter what the task is at hand . I promise it WILL forever fill an empty cupboard , not to mention one's heart .
