Fog horns at the dinner table...it is never boring here.

Tonight, as my family enjoyed a dinner around the table, a certain piece of information popped out of my husband's mouth. He quietly announced that he had a story to tell us and of course we all got really quiet as we could not imagine what he was going to say. I saw the spark and twinkle in his eyes and I knew something was cooking. With a smile and chuckle as deep as the ocean, he starts telling us about the different types of air horns he has been viewing on the internet. There are the little ones that squeak. There are the medium ones that are used at games. There are the large ones that carry across the field and then there are the Bull Horns, the one that is used on Navy battleships for command purposes. My son eruptes into laughter as he explains the seriousness of this Bull horn. It's sound can carry 1/2 mile. As I realize the consequences of this loud instrument, my husband informs us he will be the proud owner of one by Friday. He ordered one. We nearly all fall out of our chairs laughing. We can only imagine the times when this loud horn will be used. We can all see the little kid in this big man as his eyes twinkle with the possibilities of this new purchase. As we gather our composure and let the news sink in, I start wondering if I should try to intercept this package before the biggest kid at the table gets his hands on it. As my children laugh and speculate at all the fun their dad is going to have with this air horn I see the importance of never forgetting to be kid once in a while. No my husband will never be stiff, unless it is from arthritis. He will never lose the chance to have fun and be fun. And we will be listening for the Bull horn, only I don't think we will need to be too close to hear it.
