Do you have THIS under your tree?

Has your child heard, from you, how beautiful they are? Have they seen your excitement when they come home from school? Do you know your child's dreams, fears, hurts? Have you asked to spend time with them because YOU need it? Do they see your help and feel your arms when life has knocked them down? Have you spent five, uninterrupted minutes with them to hear about their day? Do you know their most unfavorite teacher? Their hardest subject? The teacher that has inspired them the most? Do you know what their day is like at school? What is their favorite restuarant? Favorite food? What is their most enjoyable activity? Their greatest achievement? Hardest failure? Do they know it matters where they are and when they come home? To you call to say you miss them? Do they know you care if they take a first drink or try the first drug? Have you talked to them about the beauty of sex and fragileness of abusing it? Do they know their bodies are a gift, a present, not to opened to the hands of the world? Do they know your most dear, treasured childhood memory of them, and you've told it until they can recite it? Do they know you want to hear it all? The good, the bad, the unfair and the untold? Do they know their greatest fan waits for them in the background, outside the fieldhouse, in the parking lot, by the bus, by the car, in the crowd, in the hallway, in the den, and always wants to be just in this VERY spot, JUST for them? Buy all the presents your checkbook, credit card and home can hold, but invest in these gifts.....they will never tarnish, rot, die, get thrown out in the trash, be forgotten....and the present will cover the future purchases in your children's life. Can't fit it under your tree? Make room in your heart.
