Peace be home.

A wonderful thing happened last night, nothing. After my daughter sang at the Senior Citizen Club, we had nothing else to do. No ballgame, no function, no studying, no homework....just blissful boredom. As I sat in my favorite chair, everyone needs a favorite chair, I soaked up the warmth, the lights, the simpleness in nothing. Seldom, does one have a blessed evening as this. The cars are parked in the drive for the night to be covered with the evening's frost. Pajamas or sweats are the evening attire. A bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup can be enjoyed or a big bowl of popcorn can be shared. My daughter is doing a facial and manicure. My son is watching a movie in the den with us. We laugh at our favorite Dewayne Wade and Charles Barkley commercial, you gotta see it. My husband is reading the USA Today newspaper. I admire the golden color of the walls, I will use this color again one day. I appreciate the dirty dishes from supper but they will definitely stay for night. I doze until David Letterman is over and my husband starts turning the lights out. With a kiss on my teenagers foreheads, I relish this opportunity. Complete. The night is drawing to a close as the covers fall around my head. I draw in another breath of thankfulness and close my eyes. I hear the pages of my husband's book turn as I rest in the gift of contentment. Peace be at home.
