Jimi Hendrix can play for church and our daughter will sing.
Tommorrow is a truly wonderful day for our church. The youth are going to lead the worship service. I am so excited as this is such a wonderful opportunity to show support for young people and their leadership abilities can rise to the top. I guess their are about 12 members. Six singers, piano, drums, guitars, etc. I am so thankful to apart of a church that loves young people. My daughter has a solo with another girl and my son is playing his electric guitar. I remember my mother telling me, "you can't always cheer or play sports, but if you have music you will never be lonely." I see the wisdom in this statement now. Our daughter started singing around age 3 or 4. In kindergarden, her teacher told me she placed our daughter's nap mat next to her desk so she could hear her sing herself to sleep. I had no idea she would continue to carry her love of music with her and now she can sing very well. Our son received his first guitar about 5 years ago. An acoustic. It laid in it's case for quite sometime and then one day he took it out. It has progressed to four more guitars, amplifiers, pedals, and what not. Between our daughter playing music on the computer and singing to the top of her lungs, then throw in the windows shaking with the electric guitar from upstairs....it is never quiet around here. As I listen to my son tell me who the greatest guitar player is, "Jimi Hentrix" I am thrilled that he continues to learn new songs and has a broad view of music that does include Christian songs. Sunday morning will be such a neat time for our church and our family. Our Jimi Hendrix will be playing his electric Les Paul and our Red High Heeled girl will be singing her heart out. My mother was right, music soothes the soul, and no matter how old or how young, one can always enjoy music.
