The stereo came in the mail.

It was a great day. The stereo had finally arrived. Our son drives my old car. An old Infinity J30. A sound, stable, safe car. The car has a great stereo system, Bose, that decides to play when IT wants to, not when YOU want it to. Anyway, with the Ebay bug living at my home, my husband found a great deal on a new stereo and bought it. When I walked through the kitchen door, I reconized a new box on the countertop. IT had arrived. I heard the excitement in his voice. "Couldn't wait to put the new one in". Our son called to say he was going to run at the gym after school. Instant, dejection. Wasn't HE just dying to have his new stereo installed? I know his dad was dying to do it. Last night, after a trip to Lowe's for "drill bits", and soaking of screws with "olive oil", it became apparent the changing of the systems wasn't a slam-dunk. But, don't ever think difficulty will discourage my husband, it just isn't possible. Each one of us took turns watching the process. The buzzing of the drill during "Wheel of Fortune". Raised eyebrows. Stripped screws. Emailed instructions. Just a four hour process, on and off. At, 10:00pm, I asked for the 100th time, "do you think it will be ready by in the morning?" Quickly, I realized, maybe I shouldn't ask this particular question anymore. As our son headed for bed, he asked, "where is dad?" Then he grinned, "fooling with that stereo, isn't he?" I replied, "Of course it had to be done today." My son laughed, "yeah, I was thinking Saturday would have been a good day to work on it." Are you kidding? That would have been waiting for one more day. Simply not a choice. After breakfast, this morning, our daughter remembered, "do we have a stereo or not this morning?" As my husband did his Terminator walk across the floor, what do you think? My children and I exchanged glances, did we expect anything less? No.
