Jockey red or Melon. I finally did it.

On July 4th, it will be exactly two years ago since we became the owners of my husband's grandmother's wrought iron patio set that resided on her porch in Sewanee, Tn. Since I brought this set home, it has been a project for me. Last summer, I sanded it down and refinished with a matte black finish. I was thrilled at how well it turned out, but then came the problem of replacing the cushions. As I have researched this, it became obvious this was going to an investment financially. Deep seated cushions, I have found out, are not cheap, and after months of researching, there is no price digging to be found. I have pondered over this project and then a sweet lady in Shelbyville, at an antique store, let it be known, that I truly had a treasure. Old, in good shape, wrought iron patio sets are few and far between. And, I had better hold unto it. So, today I finally decided on the Jockey Red fabric with black cording. I also invested in a wrought iron patio dining set. I am counting on many wonderful cook-out dinners that we can enjoy as a family and with our friends. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about the cast aluminum alternative to the wrought iron. It is lighter and doesn't rust, but you know what. I wanted the heavier, real iron stuff that may require some sanding one day, but then my children can take it, sand it, refinish it. And they can take their own sweet time choosing new cushions for an old set that is quite a treasure for more than just monetary value.
