Cheer camp and college tours, become part of our history.
We made a family trip to Knoxville to retreive our daughter from cheer camp. The final day being on Friday, we arrived a day early so our son could tour the UT campus. UT is one of his final considerations for college. Our children have been going to this university since they were a few months old, but visiting the campus on game day is quite different than on a slow, summer day. After checking in with our daughter we started the grand tour. From the freshman dorms, the law section, music building, sports facilities, student center, library (my husband's favorite place) to the famous "strip," we soaked it all in. As we walked along the sidewalks, I tried to picture our son at this college. Wondering what he will major in? What activities he will find interesting to be involved in? Who he will meet? 50 years ago, our son's grandparents, walked along this campus and met. He was a star football player. She was a beauty with piercing blue eyes. As I watched our son stepping across the milestone markers on the sidewalk I wondered if his grandparents walked down this very sidewalk to class each day? Funny how heritage can become an important part of one's history.
