May I ask you for a cure?.
A dear, young fellow has just found out his cancer has returned. Shock, dismay. Having just completed his chemotherapy and radiation, feeling set free. We have been asked to pray. Our son has expressed interest in research regarding a cure for cancer. Why? Because he has seen the hurt cancer caused in my life. I cannot imagine the fear, burden, the overwhelming feelings hearing the cancer has returned to our young friend's body. Jesus healed the blind man with spit and dirt. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. Jesus gave the lame man new legs to run on. I don't know the answers to why cancer returns. I don't know the latest, greatest, medical treatment. I know my Jesus cares about this disease. I know he makes the thunder boom, the snow fall, the birds sing, the polar bear raise her young, the whales mate for life, the spots on the leopard, the speed of a gazell, the colors in a rainbow, the firefly's light, the conception of a child, the frogs who leap. Jesus cares. Jesus still creates. May we remember the great creator at such a time, while we pray for a cure.
