Made a Difference
Today I made a difference. I chose to get up. Prepare breakfast including some of my family's favorite things and spend time aound our table. We began our day with a prayer of thankfulness and protection. I am thankful to be a wife, mom and a surgical nurse. My family consists of four people. My husband of 18 years. My son of 14 and my daughter of 12. Now let me reverse that order as each person is so special to me. My table isn't something great in fact I purchased it at a salvage store for 30.00 however the love and the laughter we have shared there cannot have a value placed. This table has been painted many times. One summer my daughter and her friends drew their names on it as a project. The food served isn't gourmet nor the china expensive but the conversation is real and unique. We've discussed cheerleading, weight lifting, track, football, relationships, hurts, victories, faults, anger, gifts, dreams, sex and love.Voices have been loud, anxious, abrupt, concerned but always real. Our elbows were close and our eyes connected as the morning sun toppled over the trees. The food was gone quickly but the food for our souls will last a lifetime. For you see children are looking to see if they matter. Does it make a difference if they don't come? Our table is not complete till all are there. Does it make a difference are we really listening? I made and we made a difference today. I can still feel the voices and see the faces as we began our morning. I remember what they wore and what they said. Make a difference.
