Frost on the window
It was discovered that a young man and his girlfriend had become closer than the parents recalled. Promises of true love waits had been made. Exchanges regarding closeness lightly brushed over. Opportunities presented themselves open for experimentation. Innocence lost with the blink of an eye. Life forever changed, seen through older than ready eyes. The bees start buzzing louder than normal. The sweet birds chirping isn't pleasant to the ear. Amazing the difference this single event can cause. We parents teach our children early on that the bee will sting. No matter how neat the buzzing may sound, if caught in the hand, a hurt will occur. How beautiful the birds are as they fly across newly mowed grass, yet if contained in our garage we would shoo it out before it is hurt. It is awkward and difficult to tell our children of sex, yet the world doesn't tell them it asks them to participate. It is interesting that the talk of sex became labeled the birds and bees, for these are two creatures seen so often in life, regarding the subject so many people avoid. I give my children the facts. There is no safe sex. A condom can have a tiny hole. There is no safe sex. Once tasted you will require more. There is no safe sex. Pregancy, HIV, hepatitis, genital herpes, sexual infections that ruin organs for life, the memory of losing innocence forever etched in a young mind that should be thinking of simple notions. For something so special as created for man, an act of deceit or sneak of a plan, causes love to become tainted with frost on the window. Driving without seeing till it all hits the wall. It all seemed so great until the heat melted the ice. By then the view was too clear, too late, too lost and the damage is done. The trickles of moisture flow down the faces that wish they had waited, simply waited, until they could just see, down the road.
