Sunday mornings
On Sunday mornings there is a tv program that comes on at 8 o'clock, appropriately named, Sunday Morning. My husband began watching this show years ago in college. I was unaware such a wonderful show existed until I met him. Every Sunday morning he tapes it so we can watch it together on Sunday night. It always has interesting people, places, and stories that are off the beaten path. This show starts and finishes the day that has become my favorite of the week. I cherish this day for it is a family day at church. Eating lunch together. No agendas or time clocks. Lazy reading of the Sunday newspaper. Ramblings among the house with kids coming and going. I sing with a group at church and while we are waiting to start the service I look out across the congregation and see my family's familiar faces. I am so humbled and grateful. I think about the past week and all of it's blessings. The thankfulness of our health. The abundance of friends, love and opportunities. The beauty of this day is in the simpleness and consistency. Our children began this when they were one week old. Ridiculous, you might be thinking. No, it is Sunday morning, and one day my children will be grown and gone; however, they will remember the consistency and importance of our family on this particular day. It will give them strength, comfort, guidance, friendships, opportunities, and blessings. They will remember moments shared together. It will pull at their heart as maturity comes. This day will tell them of people, places, and stories they would never have known. Sunday Morning, a wonderful show that begins at 8 am on tv and at my home.
