Summer time

I just love the summer months. Bright blue skies with white , fluffy clouds. Cool mornings until the day warms up. Thunderstorms that crop up unexpectly leaving me breathless and in awe of the lightning and thunder rumbles. Sitting out late at night to watch the stars appear. Seeing Venus and Mars when the rotation is right. Crickets chirping and frogs croaking. Bats dipping down into the light to grab a bug. Late night homemade ice cream with nuts and chocolate. Hot brownies with fresh strawberries. Jogs around the track. Hearing children playing kick the can and jail break. Staying up late and never having to tell my children to go to bed. Sleeping as late as I can until the sun truly wakes me up. Swimming trips with picnic lunches. Grabbing a movie at Hastings to watch later in the evening. Talks on the porch while rocking my chair beside the one who I love the most. Rocking until my eyes are heavy. Listening to the slow, deep voice. Remarking over an issue or event of the day. I'll not waste too much time on the dusting and straightening of my house. I will keep it clean and tolerable to the eyes; however, I might miss the simple joys of this season if I work too hard. I might miss the show that starts after the sun goes down. I might miss the symphony that will start without an audience. I may wish one day that instead of clean windows to look out of, I had eyes that had seen, ears that had heard, skin that had felt, and fresh air for my breath. Summertime, summertime.
