Bruno wants to go

My daughter and myself ran the other night. We just ran around the block in our neighborhood a couple of times. As you know we have two rat terriers. Our male dog is Bruno. He is solid black with a white spot underneath his chin. His ears tip over at the top and he has become the fortyish salt and pepper thing around his mouth. We ran alittle over a mile. I nearly died. My daughter ran gracefully without effort. We have the electronic fence that sends out the radio waves and with the collars that the dogs wear it will beep warning them they cannot go any further or they will be shocked. Bruno loves to go with us, but it was getting late and I did not want to look for his leash. My son and husband were sitting on the porch timing us and playing cards. As we ran I could hear sweet Bruno fussing about being left behind. It was a simple bark every few minutes. As we rounded the corner there he sat at the edge of our yard, as far out as the security system would allow. His little ears stiff from listening for us. His eyes all circled up watching for us. He was concerned about us running without him because he loves us and wants to take care of us. After we finished our run and entered the driveway he jumped for joy that we had returned safe and sound. When I walked up to the porch my son acknowledged how concerned Bruno had been while we were gone. He said that Bruno did not leave that spot at the corner of the yard. He just sat there stiff and tall looking as hard as he could for us. What we can learn from Bruno? His faithful love for his family. He loves us and watches for our return each day. He works hard to keep an eye on the yard for critters or anything that could harm us. He races to our car to greet us when we pull in the drive. His dark brown eyes sparkle with excitement to see his family. He truly loves us beyond belief. He would fight for us and go with us wherever necessary. Bruno is eight years old but alot older in dog years. He has taught my children about love. It will be sad day when he when is gone, but he has given my family so much to remember and cherish. 20 pounds of spunk, with a tail bud that shakes his whole bottom when we come home. He is always ready for us to come home, safely.

Awwww, what a sweet story! Little Bruno reminds me of my own 4 little wigglebutts who are always so happy to see us whenever we get home.

Hugs to Bruno from Dusty, Squeaky, Ben, and Jerry :-)
