First day of school
I always get excited about the first day of school . This year I have a freshman and a junior living at my house . My daughter is thrilled to be in the same school with her big brother again . I think my son is standing a little taller knowing he will be driving them to school and looking after his little sister . I can still remember what my children wore that very first day of kindergarden . At the time , I was working much more and life was pretty hard , but today when I look back , I see that first walk down the school hallway to their classroom and I feel such gratitude . Many years have passed since that time . Many accomplishments , many tough choices , many obstacles . I consider it such a priviledge to be up this morning , drinking my coffee , listening to the familiar sounds as summer comes to a close . A priviledge to see the outfit my daughter has chosen for the first day , something she has been doing from the very beginning . I will take that famous first day picture again , only this time , my son will be standing beside his car he will drive . I will take my daughter on this first day , but after that she will ride with her brother . Afterall , according to him there is nothing more cool than riding to school with your big brother . The endless binders , cool pens , paper , crayons , backpacks seem to pale in the background as my children grow closer to adulthood . I have four more of these "first day of school" days . Four more chances to enjoy a very special day .
