Short on miracles? Well, I have one that only lasts six weeks.
You know we always watch CBS Sunday Morning. It is my favorite show. Relaxing, entertaining, and informative. This Sunday was no different. The first featured story was on the tiny honey bee. Yep, I am going to tell you about the honey bee. With wings that flutter 11,000 times a minutes, well that is just the tip of the honey comb. The hive consists of around 60,000 bees, mainly girl bees. There is a Queen bee who lays the eggs and the others are worker bees. The men only last long enough to fertilize the Queen, then their duty is complete. Imagine that guys. The lifespan of a bee is 6, I said six, short weeks, but during that time, over 2,000,000 plants will be visited for pollen, and over 50,000 miles of flying for one gallon of honey. Amazing. But......let me tell you the other stuff. Bees are responsible for pollination that allows pumpkins, watermelons, squash, flowers and many other blooming plants to grow their fruit. I learned that beestings have healing powers and offer pain relief for chronic suffering. The tiny, little stinger contains vitamin B and other good stuff. What can I accomplish in six weeks? The combs provide shelter for the eggs to hatch into bees and all the while honey is being formed to delight our palates. So....let me offer this tiny bit of encouragement. When having a bad day, think of the honey bee. When thinking about telling someone off, think about how the bee buzzes, but is busy working, doesn't have time to be bothered. When feeling like you can't carry any more burdens, think how the bee flies with pollen stuck to it's legs. When you just can't seem to see the way to go, think about the bee stopping to smell the flowers, spreading a little pollen along the way and flying home to work until its life is over. Six weeks. Are you looking for a sign or a miracle? Step outside. Listen for a buzz. See the beauty in the creation of a tiny, fiesty, energetic, miracle that doesn't have any time to waste.
