What are you having for supper?

Friday afternoon, my husband and me made the famous trip to Walmart for just a few items. 200 dollars later, we were checking out. Our son had called wanting to know when we would be home, and our daughter was planning a trip to the movies. As the time seemed to be getting away, my husband said just to pop a pizza in the oven. When we hit the door at home, we were greeted with two kids asking about supper. I suggested the pizza thing and my daughter replied, "I thought we were going to eat steak and sit down together." My son was shocked as well about the frozen pizza idea. My husband and me whipped into the cooking mode. Steaks on the grill, corn on the cob, salad, etc. As the two hungry teenagers circled the table it became evident. They have gotten used to the sit-down around the table thing. My daughter wants us to hurry so she can eat with us before the movie and my son has waited after football for dinner. As the food is flying and we are scurrying to get this dinner together, I realized what a blessing it is to have a family to cook supper for. When we finally get everything ready and are preparing to sit down, I realize we are waiting for everyone to make their plate, sit down and say a blessing. We joke about how long it takes our son to get his plate together, our daughter claims her seat at the head of the table, I ask what time her movie starts and she says in 15 minutes. We bow our heads for grace. It matters. It is important. So....add to your grocery list, a dose of laughter, a loaf of time, steak seasoning, and everyone's presense around the table. These are ingredients that will satisfy the appetite for life, they are available in the heart section at home.
