She sings the National Anthem and the brace doesn'tfit.

Friday was a day full of unexpected triumphs and letdowns. Our daughter has started singing the National Anthem before the Varsity High School basketball games. Someone heard on a fluke that she sang and a couple of weeks ago they asked her to sing before her freshman game. She did and now she does. I was named after my Aunt who died with liver cancer on my mother's side. Aunt Miriam, I am told, had a beautiful voice, now I can sing okay, but I believe the voice carried to our daughter. It is pretty neat to think our children are musically inclined, somthing that will go with them through life and give them identity. Yesterday, was also a big day for our son. He and his dad went to Murfreesboro to get his new knee brace for running, football and skiing. I stayed here to get our daughter to the game on time. Anyway, as I am curling my daughter's hair, my phone rings, "mom this is the wrong brace, it isn't red like I ordered, what is going on?" It has been such a long process I am trying to recall the endless calls to the insurance company, the brace company and the final outcome letter. I hear the frustration and confusion in his voice. I know he has been looking forward to getting his brace and NOW it isn't right. After the ballgames he searches on the internet and finds the exact brace he had been fitted for. He wants the Defiance II for impact sports and skiing. I call the rep and tell him we aren't happy with this brace and will address this first thing Monday morning. With a look of gratitude my son says, "I haven't gone through all this pain and work to wear a brace that isn't the best to protect my knee." I hear the anger, I hear his determination and I hear his need. His song played alittle differently than our daughter's National Anthem, but they both sounded beautiful and they both are real.
