Windows can be opened for a fresher view.

Around 1:30am our son woke me with, "mom I smell smoke." Needless to say my feet barely touched the ground as I bolted to see what was wrong, my husband doesn't react as quickly. Our daughter has a fan in her and I immediately thought it could be on fire. As I swung open her door and realized she was safe, it became apparent the smell was coming from our air vents. A quick look at the outside unit did not offer any solution, but the smokey smell was obviously coming from our air conditioning unit. We turned off the unit and hoped the temperature would not rise too much during the night so we could at least continue sleeping. I called Stroop's Refrigeration this morning. I felt so bad calling on Sunday, but I felt it needed attention before Monday. The technician found a burned out something that had leaked oil thus causing the smoking and smell. Our son had been invited to Florida this week. Things did not work out for him to go and I could tell he was disappointed he wasn't there. I certainly wasn't disappointed when he was awakened by the smell, because he most likely stopped us from having a fire. Today when we returned home from church and lunch, I told him I was thankful he woke up. Our bedroom is in the back of the house and who knows if we would have noticed the smell as quick as he did. The temperature had crawled up the thermometer to 80 degrees so we opened our windows. Something we have not done in awhile. As a much needed thunderstorm blew up the wind whistled through our home like never before. The freshness of water landing on the earth, the rumblings of the thunder, the smell of rain, filled the rooms of our home. The temperature lowered thus making it less uncomfortable. Our unit cannot be repaired until tommorrow as a part must be ordered. I think we will be just fine. I think we are actually better. Fresh air blew in places that may have become stagnant. Our windows needed to be pulled up so not to become stuck down from lack of use. The view seems sweeter today. Clearer. I don't notice the heat so much.
