Dancing has gone too far north and south.

As I drove our daughter to the homecoming dance I carefully went over a few details. Like...dancing. I discussed with her the impression it gives when girls dance like I have seen on MTV. There is nothing good about that channel but that's another blog day. Anyway, I told her that it is her choice and I will not be standing over her , BUT when a girl chooses to use her body in such a sexual way on the dance floor , she is becoming as cheap as the prostitute soliciting her body on the sidewalk. It doesn't matter if these girls think this type of dancing is harmless....they are dead wrong. Dancing has become a tool for teasing , and THAT is not feminine. We need to teach our girls that teasing isn't the same as flirting. Teasing is using one's body as a sex object , causing the opposite sex to wonder just how far the person will go sexually. It is playing with fire. What may seem like a flicker can quickly turn into a burn before the fire can be put out. Flirting is conversation , getting to know someone , saying HI , making eye contact , feeling excited about seeing someone. I told my daughter that I wanted her to have fun and even enjoy dancing , but if she chooses to lower herself and her reputation with this nasty type of dancing , she needs to realize the dance will be played over and over again in the eyes of her classmates and she cannot take it back. Now...is it really worth making the wrong kind of dances moves on the floor? I'll let her decide.
