Two are better than one.
I found something out this weekend. My husband and I can work really well together. I can't believe it. Our small group from church took on this community mission project of redoing the boy's locker room at the middle school and we started working on it yesterday. We were fortunate enough to be able to work at the same time as we have older children and one of us didn't need to stay home and watch the kids while the other worked. I realized how quickly we hopped in to the work and how few words we needed to say to each other to get the job done. Among the hammering of nails and sawing of wood I found one of our strong points as a couple. We know each other so well we are able to work like a well oiled machine. There wasn't any need for fluff or pampering. We simply became focused on our goal and worked until it was done. I was proud of our accomplishment. I was proud of my husband. I felt our relationship grow even deeper , if possible , as our mutual respect for one another was displayed as we worked side by side. No fussing. No questioning. No hidden agenda. I enjoyed being with our friends and being involved in this rewarding project that will make those middle school boys proud of their new locker room. We caught each other's eyes in the middle of hammering boards together as I handed my husband another nail and I saw it , I felt it. We need each other. Just like a hammer needs a nail.
