What color are your leaves turning this fall?

With the worst drought in history, the promise of our famous, Tennessee, fall colors may be fading. Or, that's what all the people who went to college to study that stuff, say. Today as my daughter and me drove to and from her cheerleading competition, I remarked on how beautiful the drive was with the newly paved road on Normandy, the crisp blue morning sky and the splashes of color in the trees. As we crossed over the lake, the condensation from the cool night was rising above it's bed of sleep, dancing slowly, as if waiting for the waltz music to start again, to continue it's awakening to the sunrise. I look at my daughter, still trying to wake her heavy lashes from the last minute winning ballgame last night, she agrees. It is simply beautiful. The predictions from the weather scholars offered little encouragement for a pretty fall. They gave a sort of dismal picture based on the drought we are currently in. Maybe your home, your family, your marriage is in a drought. There may not even be enough love to drizzle, let alone soak. You may have been told there is little chance of things getting better. You may be waiting for a huge storm to come in and make a difference. You may have even given up. BUT, I am here to give you hope. If we can still have the beautiful colors painted across our Tennessee hills, during the dryest time in history, you can hope. If you can still see the steam rise across a fresh sunrise, you can have hope. If you can hold on to the One who sends the rain, blows the wind, dries the earth beyond comprehension, and can change a green leaf to a crimson red....you can believe in miracles. If your life seems unmanageable right now, take a slow road trip and view a hillside of color. Whisper words of gratitude for such splendor and refuse, simply REFUSE to believe that a dry spell can stop the rain from falling down and changing your true colors. Regardless of what the experts may tell you.
