Time is spelled protection.
How often do we exclaim to God...."if I could just know what is going to happen." It could be the test results from a mammogram. It could be the phone call from your child. It could be the job you have been searching for. It could be forgiveness. It could be the ending or mending of your marriage. Whatever it is...lingering in the hallway of your mind and heart, I have learned that time offers protection. Learning to realize that God is always in control of everything helps me understand that outcomes do not operate on my schedule or anyone else. I can only handle what today brings me. I can't handle tomorrow, yet. That is like trying to stuff two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in your mouth at one time....you will choke to death...no amount of milk will wash it down. Life is a process of timed events. When God is your time keeper, you can rest and let him watch the seconds count down. If you are trying to keep time....then you are already behind schedule. When we realize our life is no surprise to God we will stop letting situations cause us distress. He already knows the future. He already knows if we are going to take our eyes off of him and fall off the track. He already has a plan in store for each one of us. If we are asking God to guide each step we take, each thought, each action, each decision....then we must trust God enough to let the process of time be an opportunity to live in his time frame, not ours. Think of it like this...when I ran track, Coach Frost would be at the finish line, with tobacco spilling onto his chin, stop watch in hand, looking intently for me to round the curve towards the finish line. I had no idea how good my time was or how bad. He never changed his expression, but I knew he would be there to stop that watch when I crossed the line. Keeping my eyes fixed on his strong, composed face gave me strength and purpose to keep running as hard as I could...straight past him. If we will just keep our eyes on Jesus...we will keep running...because only he knows where the finish line is for each of us....no matter how fast or how slow our time is.
