Ironing out, problems, marriage, teenagers, relationships and a few wrinkles
Yesterday at work, we were talking about ironing. I love to iron. Call me stupid. I have too much time on my hands. I lead a boring life. I must have been abused as a child. I am a weird woman. I care too much about how I look. Have I covered all the thoughts running through your mind now? Well, I do like to iron. It is rewarding. A simple shirt starting out all clumpy and messy then transforms into something sharp, crisp. Sometimes I use starch. My favorite brand is Faultless Heavy Starch. It is fresh. Doesn't have an overbearing fragrance. Doesn't leave specks on the clothes and is cheap. 94 cents to be exact. I like to take the laundry directly from the dryer because if clothes are left in it, for a long time, the wrinkles seem to set in making it more difficult to remove them. It then requires more time on each article of clothing. I can't move along as quickly. Interesting? What about the wrinkles of life? I think it is the same. When we let problems and issues set in and become part of ourselves it is so difficult to work them out the longer they are allowed to stay. Like in marriages. When two people let anger, hurt, disagreements, and differences, smolder, never confronting the facts, it becomes ingrained and cuts into love, trust, hope and respect. The more time that passes, the longer it takes to smoothe out. Parents who have issues with their kids must work on it quickly. Just like stains and wrinkles allowed to set in clothing. If we don't pretreat the initial stain it becomes more difficult to remove. We might even be forced to put the article of clothing in the dust rag section. Let's not dust rag our kids. If we don't stay on top of what is going on with our kids our laundry is going to get pretty messy. Okay, so you say, it isn't what's on the outside that matters, it is the inside. Well, that is true. A person should not be judged by their clothing, it is simply a materialistic thing. However, if possible, wouldn't we want to wear nice clean, ironed, clothes instead of dirty, smelly, wrinkled stuff? Such is life. We can settle for grabbing something out of the laundry basket or keep our laundry caught up. Simple.
