Cheerleaders need brothers to be in the stands.
It is the first home Freshman football game tonight. We are excited. Our daughter wil be cheering and her brother will get to see her cheer this time. I have always promoted unity and support with our children. My son has attended many of his sister's games and he always sits in front so she can see that he is there. I think it is so very important to encourage the older sibling to be a role model for the younger. No, I don't think it is too much pressure, I think it is their position in the family and should be taken seriously. Tonight, we will watch the game and watch the cheerleaders. My son will wait for his sister and see if she needs anything carried off the field. I will have them pause for a quick picture and hug. Big brothers have a special job of showing their little sister how guys should treat them. Girls learn at home what to expect from opposite sex relationships, so it is very important that we parents encourage respect, kindness, and courtesy among our children. I know my daughter wants her dad and me to come watch her cheer, but in all honesty, she really wants her big brother to sit right in front of her so her friends can see him. It will lift her spirit and make her feel so special being his little sister tonight, and when he offers to help her carry her stuff to the car she will feel so important and loved. Parents just can't replace that kind of love. Brother-sister love isn't an obligation it is a choice, it is a character building block for life.
