A covenant between me and you.
I have been reading our Advent Devotions. I did not really understand The Advent, growing up in a Southern Baptist home, we did not participate in this tradition. On Dec 3, the devotion was on the covenant God made with Abraham and Sarah. These two people lived by faith, not by their sight, circumstances, or material possessions. They left their comfortable home, to live in tents and travel like homeless people to a land that had been promised to them by God. Sounds crazy? They trusted the faithfulness of the One who made the promise, the covenant, with them. They trusted. They held steadfast. They believed. They followed. I have learned that people, life and circumstances will sometimes disappoint me. The only absolute is my relationship with my Saviour, Jesus. He made a covenant with me when I was 9 years old. I gave my life to him. I asked him to forgive me and help me. I felt such an overwhelming peace and still do to this day. My God has promised He will never leave me. He won't break a promise. He will not confuse me. My covenant is to start each day with Him, asking for His guidance and protection. The story with Abraham and Sarah continues with them being blessed with a son, way beyond the child bearing years, because of their faithfulness. Wow!! God won't disappoint us. Hope in all things and have courage, for the Father loves us more than we love our own children and He will keep His promise. I am trying to keep mine.
