I love the rain as it splashes
Down to the earth in dashes.
Reminds me of being young once again
Dancing in puddles of fresh fallen fun.
Sharp pins prickling my grandfather's tin roof.
Bedtime stories as we giggled to sleep.
Soaking down to the bone turning my horse towards home.
The smell of wet hay in the barn.
Fresh cut grass sticking between my toes.
Rain running, trickling down around my nose.
Warm towels pulled from the dryer
Wrapped around me by my dear, sweet mother.
I love the rain as it splashes my window.
Falling so hard the gutters can't swallow.
The earth seems so alive and green with new life.
Lakes brimming where once they ran dry.
Soon, the sun will come out.
The thunder will stop and the puddles will dry up.
I'll still cherish the fond memories from not so long ago....
As I walked in the rain today...felt the grass between my toes.
Water running, dripping down my nose.
