Mom, I'm headed home.
"Hey, mom I'm headed home. I'm offically a sophomore." I listened to my son's voice on the other end of my cell phone. I could hear the weight of exams, stress, moving out of the dorm...leaving, just like his car as he was pulling away from his final chemistry exam. The upbeat Bill was headed towards home. I am not quite sure where this year has gone. Faster than I imagined. With less bumps in the road than I heard about in his freshman orientation. Amazing things happened while he was gone. Each time he pulled in the driveway...I saw a more mature Bill. Each problem he had to conquer among the thousands of students...I saw a more confident Bill. Each stressful week, full of tests, papers, projects and just loud dorm life molded a resilience within his personality, that he did not know existed til needed. This has been such a fun stage to be a mother. I have heard about the changes when your college student comes home for the summer. I am sure there will be fights over the bathroom with his sister. I really don't know how each and every detail is going to work out, but I am just so thankful he has made it. We have made it. Bill is headed for home!!!!!
